The Maine Chapter, AAP recognizes how critical it is to work
at the state and national policy level to improve systems of care
for children and adolescents.
The Maine Chapter, AAP has an Advocacy Committee charged with developing
a legislative agenda for the Maine Chapter, AAP and coordinating
with other child-related organizations to advance this agenda at the
Maine legislature. This Committee works to keep Chapter members appraised
of and alerted to important advocacy issues, using the Chapter’s
list-serve on an ongoing basis and
reporting to the board and membership at annual meetings. For more information about the list-serve please contact the Maine Chapter .
In addition, the Chapter has a representative on the Maine
Medical Association’s Legislative Committee and presents a “Legislator
of the Year” Award each fall to recognize a legislator that has
worked hard to advance the health care of children in the state
of Maine.
