Posted on December 28, 2016

The final ME CDC/DOE rule regarding immunization requirements for school attendance that was updated to require a dose of Tdap for all entering 7th graders effective at the beginning of the 2017 school year. This is consistent with CDC recommendations to administer 1 dose of Tdap at age 11-12 years. The rule was also amended to extend the exclusion for unimmunized students during an outbreak of varicella from 16 days to 21 days, which is reflective of the upper limit of the incubation period for varicella disease.
