Modified Services for Elevated Capillary Blood Lead Tests - Memo to Providers, April 2020

Posted on May 03, 2020

  1. On a temporary basis due to COVID-19, we will provide modified services to children up to age 6 years with unconfirmed capillary blood lead levels of 10 mcg/dL and higher if there are barriers to getting timely venous confirmatory tests.
  2. Our unit is fully operational and still providing case management and lead inspection services for lead-poisoned children (children up to age 6 years with confirmed, venous blood lead levels of 5 mcg/dL and higher).
  3. We are here to assist providers with questions about implementing Maine’s new blood lead testing requirements, including questions about setting up in-office blood lead testing (point of care testing).
