Session 2: March 24, 2025 | 12:00 -1:00PM

Session 3: April 7, 2025 | 12:00 - 1:00PM

Please join MPCA and childhood obesity expert Dr. Valerie O’Hara, DO, for a webinar series for clinicians and others discussing the issue of obesity stigma with a focus on pediatrics and how to support patients with the disease. This webinar series is offered in partnership with the Maine CDC.

Currently, 1 in 7 children and 1 in 5 adults in Maine are living with obesity and there’s a lack of understanding about obesity as a disease that contributes to trauma and stigma. The first webinar in the series will feature Dr. O’Hara and include a discussion of the pathophysiology of obesity. The second webinar will feature Elizabeth Paul, Obesity Action Coalition Board Member, and will highlight the patient and parent perspective on the challenges of obesity treatment. The third webinar will focus on actionable tools for clinicians to use in conversations with patients.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Learn more about the pathophysiology of obesity and how internal and external factors impact disease processes
  • Explore the patient and parent perspective on seeking care for obesity

Target Audience: Clinical staff, CEOs, anyone patient facing.
