Trauma-Informed Primary Care: Reducing the Burden on Childhood Adversity and Parental Stress

When: June 26, 2025 | 7:30-8:30AM

Speaker: Gretchen Pianka, MD, MPH, FAAP
Primary care providers are the first line of support for families navigating behavioral and mental health concerns. In the midst of a parent stress advisory, pediatric mental health crisis and rising provider burnout, offering meaningful guidance in a brief office visit can mitigate the impact of trauma and stress. This webinar will provide simple, trauma-informed strategies that primary care providers can integrate into routine visits, allowing families to foster resilience and lessen the chance of social thinning. Drawing from her newly released book, Coaching Families for Resilience, Dr. Gretchen Pianka will introduce a structured approach to help parents and children manage stress, improve emotional regulation, and foster relational health. She will also discuss ways to bridge the gap between the clinical encounter and the initiation of other services, treatments, or evaluations.
