Announcing the Launch of Count the Kicks in Maine

Count the Kicks is an evidence-based public health program that teaches expectant parents the method for and benefits of monitoring their baby's movements every day in the third trimester of pregnancy. We will be launching several webinars for providers to learn more about the importance of educating on fetal movement monitoring in the third trimester and how to implement Count the Kicks in various settings.

Research shows a change in a baby’s movements could be the earliest and sometimes only indication of an issue with a pregnancy. Count the Kicks is a simple and free way for expectant parents to self-monitor to improve the chance of delivering a healthy baby, and by doing so, reduce stillbirths. According to the CDC, one out of every 175 pregnancies in the U.S. ends in stillbirth.

About Count the Kicks

In the first 10 years of the Count the Kicks campaign in Iowa, the state’s stillbirth rate decreased nearly 32% while stillbirth rates in the rest of the country remained relatively stagnant. We want to bring the success of this proven program to Maine. With your help, we can continue to spread the word in our state and potentially save the lives of babies every year.
