Join the Maine Public Health Association for our 2025 annual conference, Connections Build Health: Sparking Conversations, Strengthening Communities. This year's conference is hosted in collaboration with the UMaine-Institute of Medicine and will take place on Monday, October 27th, at the Augusta Civic Center.

MPHA’s annual conference is the largest public health gathering in Maine. Every year it features a broad array of programs and projects that address individual and community health, and demonstrate strategy, creativity and innovation in tackling public health challenges.

“Connections Build Health: Sparking Conversations, Strengthening Communities,” will showcase initiatives that encourage conversations and address social isolation, which can have significant physical and mental health impacts. In his landmark report, “Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation,” former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy identified strategies to improve community connection, including strengthening social infrastructure and mobilizing the health sector.

We are looking for diverse examples and perspectives on how people in Maine are working to address social isolation by building positive community connections. Both structured and unstructured opportunities for relationship building, forming non-traditional partnerships, and other connections to health-supporting resources (like food banks and internet access) are the types of initiatives we're hoping to uplift.
