OCFS Webinar: Economic and Concrete Supports to Strengthen Families

Posted on May 15, 2025

When: Monday, June 2, 2025: from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via Zoom
Topic: Economic and Concrete Supports to Strengthen Families

Overview: As indicated in Maine’s Child Safety and Family Well-Being Plan, economic and concrete supports like food, housing, health care, child care, clothing, diapers, transportation, education, paid leave, and cash assistance reduce stress and promote family stability. Meeting these basic needs allows parents and caregivers to better support their well-being and their children’s. Federal and state programs provide support statewide and at a systems-level, but communities also play an important role. Strengthening economic and concrete supports must be accompanied by efforts to ensure that families know what support is out there, understand what they might be eligible for, and are comfortable seeking that support. During this webinar, we will explore some Maine specific resources for meeting the needs of families and share how we can all engage and partner with parents and caregivers to ensure they are aware of these resources.

Participants will:
1. Learn about federal and state resources to assist families with meeting their needs.
2. Learn about community specific resources for individuals and families.
3. Understand strategies that everyone can do to promote the resources shared.

In order to participate or receive the webinar recording and resources, please register here by May 29, 2025, at 5 p.m. A meeting invitation and link to the webinar will be sent to you the day prior to the scheduled webinar.

Thank you for partnering with the Office of Child and Family Services and the Maine Children’s Trust to ensure all Maine children and families can be safe, stable, happy, and healthy!
