April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Posted on April 01, 2026

Child maltreatment prevention begins long before harm occurs. By identifying disrupted caregiving early, supporting caregiver capacity and promoting relational health, pediatricians can help interrupt cycles of trauma, strengthen families and advance child abuse prevention. For resources, check out these Patient Care pages from AAP.org: Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect and National Center on Relational and Trauma Informed Care Health Care.

In Maine, the Maine Children's Trust works with partners across the state on prevention, education and collaborative approaches to decrease child abuse and neglect. Learn more here: https://www.mechildrenstrust.o...
