Digital technology is deeply woven into the lives of children and adolescents, creating opportunities for learning, creativity, and connection while also presenting new challenges for youth, families, schools, and healthcare providers.

Dr. Alyssa Goodwin will discuss common concerns related to social media, online interactions, screen habits, and the effects of technology on youth well-being. She will also share case examples to illustrate how these concerns may arise in practice and how providers can support youth and families. Participants will gain practical strategies and American Academy of Pediatrics resources to support conversations about digital safety and healthy technology use.

Presented by:

Alyssa Goodwin, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatrician, pediatric mental health advocate, and school health expert. She is a pediatrician at Stellar Pediatrics and has worked in pediatric primary care in Maine for more than two decades. Dr. Goodwin serves as the school physician for the Brunswick School Department and works closely with school nurses and administrators to address health issues affecting children and adolescents. Her professional interests include child and adolescent mental health, school health, healthy technology use, sleep, nutrition, exercise, and supporting the overall physical and emotional well-being of young people.
