OCFS and the Maine Children's Trust Announce New Webinar Series: Child & Family Well-Being Webinar Series

Posted on May 28, 2026

The Office of Child and Family Services and the Maine Children’s Trust are pleased to announce the next webinar in our Child & Family Well-Being Webinar Series (formerly known as the Prevention Webinar Series) to continue the conversation about how we can all build supportive communities and keep children safe by keeping families strong. This webinar follows a series of recorded webinars held over the past several years where strategies have been shared for what everyone can do to develop and sustain a shared commitment to creating the conditions for family well-being and child safety.

When: Tuesday, June 2, 2026: from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via Zoom
Topic: Mandated Reporting and Community Support for Families Initiative

Overview: The Mandated Reporting and Community Support for Families Initiative was developed in response to significant feedback received from parents/caregivers and community and state agency partners during the development and implementation of Maine’s Child Safety and Family Well-Being Plan. Partners shared that those who can support parents and caregivers are often unsure who to call or reach out to when a family needs help and abuse or neglect are not suspected. As a result, the Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) and the Maine Child Welfare Action Network (MCWAN) partnered to launch and implement this initiative, to better understand the current challenges and opportunities in Maine’s systems of mandated reporting and community support for families. This webinar will provide an overview of this initiative, important changes to statute on neglect and mandated reporting, and upcoming opportunities for Mandated Reporting training.

Participants will:
• Learn more about the Mandated Reporting and Community Support for Families Initiative.
• Understand key changes in statute related to definitions of neglect and mandated reporting.
• Learn about new resources created including training opportunities for mandated reporters and community supporters in Maine

In order to participate or receive the webinar recording and resources, please register via Zoom here by Friday, May 29, 2026. You will receive a meeting invitation upon registration.

Thank you for partnering with the Office of Child and Family Services and the Maine Children’s Trust to ensure all Maine children and families can be safe, stable, happy, and healthy!
