EoE is one of the fastest-growing digestive diseases in the U.S., now affecting an estimated 1 in 700 people. Eosinophilic esophagitis, or EoE, is a chronic immune-mediated disease that can affect eating, growth, and quality of life. In children, symptoms may include stomach pain, vomiting, feeding refusal, or poor growth. In adolescents and adults, symptoms may include difficulty swallowing, food getting stuck, persistent heartburn, or pain with eating.
Rhode Island Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics invites pediatric clinicians to a free, interactive webinar designed to build awareness of EoE, strengthen recognition of signs and symptoms, and support timely referral to pediatric gastroenterology and allergy subspecialists when appropriate.
During this 60-minute session, Timothy Buckey, MD, MBE, FAAP, an allergy and immunology physician, will provide an overview of EoE, focusing on symptom recognition and disease burden, the relationship between EoE and allergic disease, the atopic march, the role of inflammation, referral considerations, and multidisciplinary care. The session also includes an interactive learning activity and live Q&A. Participants may submit questions during registration for the faculty member to consider.
